St. Lucia
Lush rainforests, undulating agricultural land and unspoilt beaches make this volcanic island a Caribbean vacation paradise...
St. Lucia is located in the middle of the Eastern Caribbean chain of islands and is approximately 21 miles south of Martinique and 90 miles northwest of Barbados.
There is indeed a lot on offer on the island: excellent beaches, mountain scenery, the Qualibou Volcano and its boiling sulphur springs, orchids and exotic plants, and tropical flower-lined roadsides. It is also one of the world’s breeziest places, where the trade winds blow in from the sea to the southern shore.
There is still considerable British and French influence felt on the island.
Local time: GMT/UTC - 4 Currency: East Caribbean Dollar
Climate: St. Lucia has a hot tropical climate but the average daily temperatures of 26°C tend to be tempered by trade winds. The rainy season is from June to November and the drier period between December and May
Language: English is the main language
Best time to visit: The western shores of St Lucia are a mighty fine place to be from December to March when the rain eases off a bit. Predictably, these are also the busiest months on the island
Things to do: Golfing, diving, snorkelling, sailing, yachting, wind surfing, hiking, running and trail riding are just a few of the adventure activities awaiting you in St. Lucia
