Turks & Caicos

The perfect destination to escape...

One of the most valuable possessions of the islands are their pristine white sandy beaches, which are complemented with crystal clear turquoise waters. Despite an increase in tourist numbers, the islands remain largely not commercialised and unspoilt with small, private places to stay and a heavy emphasis on ecotourism.

Local time: GMT/UTC - 5             Currency: US Dollar

Climate: Turks and Caicos enjoy around 320 sunny days a year. The climate is typical tropical and very pleasant because the heat is tempered by trade winds. Nights can be cool and there might be rain in winter. During the Northern Hemisphere's winter, spring and summer (December to July), the weather is milder

Language: The official language is English and Creole is also commonly spoken

Best time to visit: Winter is the best time to visit as the weather is balmy and there are fewer mosquitoes.  The rainy season extends from late May to November, with the hurricane season occurring toward the end of this period - from September through November. The peak tourist season is between winter and spring (mid-December to mid-April)

Things to do: Beside the typical Caribbean water sports facilities, Turks and Caicos is also famous for its Yoga treatments. Most of the hotels feature tennis courts and the countryside is lovely for golfing. For those who prefer exploring the natural beauty, hiking trails, horseback riding, and exploring the Middle Caicos limestone caves are popular options and there are also numerous nature preserves, national parks, sanctuaries and various historical sites

Things to know: The only time to consider not going is the sweltering four months of August to November
