UK

Visit one of the most culturally diverse countries in Europe...

The United Kingdom consists of Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), plus the six counties of Northern Ireland. The Isle of Man and the Channel Islands (principally Jersey and Guernsey) are also parts of the British Isles.

London is the principal British attraction for overseas visitors, with its historic landmarks such as the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, St. Paul's Cathedral and the Tower of London.  They also flock to the many West End theatres and the shopping areas of Knightsbridge, Oxford Street and Regent Street.

Within easy day-trip distance of London are the university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, the picturesque Cotswolds with their many pretty villages, Stratford-upon-Avon (home of William Shakespeare), the cathedral at Canterbury and the seaside attractions of Brighton. Wales adjoins England to the west, and offers, in addition to its populous southern cities, a diverse range of historic castles, spectacular coastline and impressive mountain landscapes.

Climate: When you travel will depend on the type of holiday you’re looking for, but regardless of when you arrive. Winters tend to be cold and wet, with the hottest and driest weather generally reserved for July and August. The shoulder seasons often produce the best weather: sunny spells jostle for space with sudden showers between March and May, while balmy ‘Indian summers’ often pitch up between September and October. Snow generally arrives either end of winter

Language: English

Best time to visit: April to September is the best period to travel. Summer sees the UK at its liveliest: especially in seaside areas, or cities like Oxford, Bath and York. But in the big cities – especially London – you’ll find plenty to do no matter when you travel

Things to do: The United Kingdom has literally thousands of things to see and do. Beside its famous and vibrating cities you should also visit its beautiful coasts. The countryside is ideal for leisure activities like Golfing, Hiking or Nordic Walking

Things to know: Opening hours tend to be reduced between October and Easter, and some places shut down altogether for the winter. Holiday traffic increases substantially during the peak (late in July and August)

Insider tip:  Don`t miss out to visit a local sport match like Rugby, Football or Cricket
